Providing interim leadership by acting as CEO of the self governing First Nation, providing support to Chief and Council, supervising staff of 40, direct supervisor of 7 managers, overseeing $8 million budget, strategic planning and implementation of plans, budgeting, act, regulation and policy , project coordination, development of RFP's and supervise consultants, provide organizational, research and other support to Council, logistical and operational support both internally and externally to governments, provided ongoing management services and change management support, assisted in the development of strategies for the delivery of programs, develop strategies for the delivery of programs and services that meet mandate. provide support in the developing strategies for the leadership team to implement changes, provide analysis of the strategic, operating and financial impacts of current operating procedures, identify need for planning process, oversee the development of strategic plans, HR inventory and HR handbook, participate in the development of success indicator templates. Led the management and leadership teams to investigate, analyze and make recommendations with regard to implementation of recommendations. We were successful because we wrote and published the 6 volume Capacity Development Initiative (on NND website) which is a road map for FN self governance and ancillary documents, I wrote the $400,000 proposal to secure the funding for this three year project and oversaw the entire project, up to and including the publication of the study. I facilitated all of the leadership, management and staff meetings associated with the project and wrote up all of the reports, did all of the analysis and did the communication protocol. the final product was approved by Council motion and assembly (legislative body) where required. Subsequent invitations to conferences and other First Nations to discuss this initiative with them. I was also hired on for an additional year to oversee the implementation of the project as an independent contractor. I understand I was perceived as the visionary of how the government could become better organized and better meet the mandate identified by the people. the 5 years of this project was basically my brainchild......is that narcissistic enough? And I got leadership, management, staff, consultants and the assembly (the voting public) to go along with me. Then I replaced myself with a First Nation person as ED and mentored her for a while, still get called in now and then......
What they like about First Nation Of Na Cho Nyak Dun:
You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
