Daily Duties at Whentech, Llc:

Working with team of 3 in optimizing infrastructure performance and reliability by implementing new technologies/ processes, including virtualization (VMware), streamlined servers, an intrusion diction system, a Help site for customers and training videos/blog. Trained my staff by challenging them to new technologies. Example if whentech needed to build a Linux server in 3 months I would have my team member who never built a linux server before. If he had an issue I would be there to help him get over problems he was having or give advice. If there was an emergency that wasn't in my staff But, if it was 911 with SQL server I would fix. This was because no one on my team had the SQL experience I did. If my staff could not fix the issue. I did. We rarely had to go to the developers on fixing issues. Still the DBA of the Operation team. Optimize database performance. Normal administration of the production database. Deployment of database changes. To keep manual maintenance jobs in certain time frame. I helped. Also, I would confirm the work is done and give progress reports to my bosses. Get servers built in a timely matter when demand on system is needed. Used VMware DRS to manage the demands. Kept our server and software licensed properly. Environment: 45 Windows 2008 servers, 6 MS SQL 2008, 12 servers running IIS, FIX protocol, OpenSUSE, Backup Exec 12d, VB Scripts, PERL Scripts, .NET Applications, 5 VMWare ESX 5.0 servers, EMC VNX 5100. NAGIOS 4 sites.
