Daily Duties at Fm Global:

Performed hands-on site assessments of the physical property including roofs and conducted evaluations which included site water supplies, dust hazards, chemical storage, and rack storage arrangements of client products. Ensured that FM Global Engineering Standards are followed and, as necessary, communicated the appropriate recommendations and/or engineering solutions to ensure client understanding and agreement for risk improvement so strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills are a must. Contacted insured management and conducted site visits to provided risk management consulting to industrial and commercial management groups. Consulted clients in the development of Emergency Planning, and Mechanical Integrity. This includes reviewing clients fire, hurricane, flood, electrical equipment testing, equipment examination (e.g. safety valves for boilers and non destructive examinations for presses), fire protection systems (e.g. conducting alarm testing, water flow tests, and fire pumps testing), usage of hot work permits, lockout/tag-out programs, and contingency planning. Identified and quantified fire, explosion, business interruption, and natural hazard exposures to industrial properties. Quantifications were made on total loss expected in an "as is" situation, and total loss expected "after recommendation is completed" situation. Developed engineering solutions to prevent fire, explosion, and natural hazards (i.e. hurricane and flood) damage to process units, critical equipment, buildings, and material storage areas. Wrote technical reports that identified possible exposures to insured property and business. Reports were provided to clients so engineering solutions could be implemented. Provided project management and reviews to clients in order to identify areas where exposures can be mitigated and/or additional protection could be provided. This includes reviewing construction drawings, equipment submittals, materials used, safety interlocks to be installed. Reviewed construction, fire protection, and roof assembly drawings and materials for new projects, building additions, or improvements. Provided client and contractors reports identifying where improvements are needed to design to follow FM Global Engineering Standards. Served as FM Global Project Coordinator for BBVC Compass Stadium (Houston Dynamos Stadium), developing relationships with project management and working closely with design team to ensure that submitted plans and completed installations met FM Global Loss Prevention Standards. Made quick decisions when clients or contractors raised questions about recommended protection or changes were proposed.
