• Managed all financial functions performed by the four-person Finance Department including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger • Oversaw the timely and accurate month-, quarter- and year-end accounting and financial close processes • Prepared monthly financial reporting package covering all financial aspects of performance (salary and position control reports, month and year-to-date variance explanations, capital spend, grant and fund reporting) • Created annual organizational budget and reforecasts  Operating Budget ($220M)  Capital Budget ($40M)  Telecommunications Budget ($30M) • Provided key financial analyses aiding in the development of strategic initiatives • Analyzed financial data and made fact-based recommendations to improve operating efficiency and effectiveness • Collaborated with team in implementing IT initiatives of the finance department, including new accounting software modules • Partnered with Research Management to develop grant budgets and provide required periodic reporting on the grant spending • Set, implemented and monitored internal controls, accounting policies and financial reporting procedures • Supervised, hired, trained, developed, and evaluated assigned staff
