Daily Duties at Serco:

I managed several Air Traffic Control systems installation projects to include shelter and tower assembly for SPAWAR Systems in Charleston, SC. I managed several types of shelter and tower installations and shelter assemblies to include Transportable Radar Approach Control, (TRAPCON), Battle Command Control Center (BC3) and the Transportable Air Traffic Control Facility (TATCF). Each shelter was assembled, tested and commissioned into service at SPAWAR Systems Charleston. Installation and integration efforts included installing cable management systems, flooring, electrical panels, radios, antennas all cabling and equipment consoles. The shelters were then disassembled and packed up shipment to different areas in Afghanistan and Iraq for re-assembly to support war efforts. As a Project Manager I managed $10 Million dollars of tasking annually. For each project, I managed the schedule and personnel involved, ordered and tracked materials and equipment, submitted weekly and monthly status reports that included the financial reports and POA&Ms. As the technical point of contact with the customer I routinely scheduled pre and post-installation meetings, discussed technical issues and concerns and assisted with the development of cost estimates and Statements of Work (SOW). I was responsible for addressing each task with an eye toward safety, job performance, and finishing the task on schedule and under budget. I attended weekly meetings to discuss all aspects of the work, report any problems, and offer corrective solutions. I submitted modifications to the SOW when there were changes to the scope of the project, such as material purchases, engineering, or changes

What they like about Serco:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
