Daily Duties at Emd Serono Research & Development Institute:
Prepare strategic plan for drug discovery and early drug development sufficient to receive financial committment for entrepreneurial innovation of a start-up biotech effort and manage the organization with a start-up budget and resource while working within a large pharmaceutical company. I began this new venture model after the project team identified the structure activity relationship for the molecule with its receptor target and I mapped the hit-to-lead, lead optimization, and phase 0 plans to reach an IND 3 years after the structure-activity profile of the hit was identified. Once a business plan suitable for venture funding was available, I met with 4 external investing groups and with 7 key opinion leaders in the field to align the product profile with the unmet medical needs in the clinic. The new pharmaceutical product was forecasted to expand the portfolio value by at least $250million annually (after tax revenue). Simultaneously led another project team to develop a diagnostic from clinical research with CRO to discover biomarker to developing the point-of-care technology platforms.
