Daily Duties at Region Iv Mental Health/Mental Retardation Commission:
Director of Adult Services for Desoto County Provide Support and Managed 70 plus staff including: Case Managers, Therapists, Day Support Specialist, Crisis Intervention Specialist, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Doctors and office staff. In addition to being the Director of the Facility, I also conducted LAW ENFORCEMENT Training for ALL Municipalities to obtain their minimum standards and also worked closely to ensure stability in the community regarding psychiatric services for Children and Adults. Signed, Received, Reviewed and/or Approved any Mental Health or Substance Abuse Commitment filed by individuals in the county. This involved being active in the community and establishing a rapport with the Court Systems, Judges, and Lawyers. Provided Crisis Counseling and Recommendations for ALL municipalities 24/7 as well as providing support and guidance to Psych. Assessors within Baptist Desoto regarding Inpatient and Outpatient Placement. My staff and I were able to help save the Hospital thousands of dollars by establishing a psychiatric team available at all hours for Crisis Services. Worked with three Acute Crisis Stabilization Units to determine placement and proper discharge. Worked within thirty-eight different counties providing Psychosocial Assessments for Nursing Home Patients and assigning the proper therapeutic interventions. My adult career up to this point has been with Region IV. I began with the company as a Case Manager, and also continued my education as I worked my way up from a credentialed Therapist and Crisis Intervention Specialist to being promoted to the position of Director of All Adult Services in Desoto County; after Desoto County consulted with the State Department of Mental Health asked that Region IV expand into the area. Desoto County is one of the fastest growing cities in MS with a population of over 170,000 people. During this time, my team and I were able to assess over 250 patients a month within the emergency room and other floors of the hospital to determine placement. My staff and I were able to start from the ground up and establish around 3500 plus patients within three years to provide mental health and other services.
