Daily Duties at Alton School:
As a school therapist the services provided include individual therapy to students weekly on issues related to their difficulties with their social emotional development and obstacles in their learning environment. The students are in Special Education and have an eligibility of Emotionally Disturbed, Learning Disabled or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Attendance of annual IEP meetings and monitoring the progress of measurable therapeutic goals. Areas of clinical focus include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, gang violence, transition from residential placement, chemical dependency/addiction and behavioral disorders/ADHD. Additionally consults with teaching and administrative staff to provide feedback and recommendations that will help create success for the student in the classroom environment.
