Daily Duties at Bh Direct Response, Inc.:

Responsibilities: • Managed 700+ radio and television advertisement accounts • Negotiated air-time and campaign fees with networks across the country • Responsible for all media analysis and metric research, improved campaign placement and consumer response in diversified markets across the U.S. • Oversaw creative production, successfully managed and decreased campaign voiceover, visual, and quality error saving the firm unnecessary costs • Managed campaign and station revenue growth, increased network payouts per quarter by strategizing within station demographics and rearranging air-time Day-to-day Breakdown – what I actually did: Would be in constant contact with all radio and television networks / stations regarding their accounts with us, handling all aspects of their accounts e.g. how much revenue was earned over X amount of time when airing our spots, to acting as account receivables and overall general inquiries re their accounts with us. Would spend my day looking over an updated weekly spreadsheet indicating (a breakdown) which stations/networks aired which spots and how many leads came-in per week /per spot, over the course of the prior 4 weeks. For example, I found myself creating/exporting many variations of the same spreadsheet to compare and contrast which stations/networks were pulling leads in the same markets, airing the same spots etc. This allowed me to study each stations success and failures that were within the same markets or on a national scale – which spots needed to be pulled off the air completely or when was a better time to re-attempt airing the same spot(s) at a later time (in the week, month or year etc.), which spots needed increased air-time exposure (i.e. more repetition within certain hours of the day, night or week). I did the same when studying the success/failure patterns of the spots themselves (creating various spreadsheets etc.). I would study the pattern of which spots did well or failed in which markets and which station formats (AM vs. FM, Urban vs. Country) etc. I would spend time studying stations/networks formats, current audience, key target demographics and matched-up which spots would do well on the air. I would go over all the above mentioned and follow-up w/ my point-of-contacts (at the stations/networks – product managers/station managers etc.) discuss my thoughts and suggestions of how to increase revenue. I would negotiate air-time, payout amounts as well. I would negotiate contract agreements of various ways to get our spots played (example: reverse Per Inquiry – pay the station up-front and have them burn-off the check by the leads that came in). I would also spend part of my day cold-calling new stations/networks and would pitch them our business model and broke down the advantages of why they should do business with us. I did the same with former stations/networks as well. I assisted with researching prospective clients to run their campaigns with us. I would perform various types of market research and help decide which clients would do well in the various markets we did business. I assisted with overseeing creative production of our spots. I worked a lot with our creative voice-over announcers discussing different areas of the spots that needed certain tweaks and stresses (higher pitch/lower pitch etc.). We would go back and forth on the phone and via email until we felt comfortable going back to our clients with a finished product/spot. I also assisted with creative campaign tag lines giving ideas. I oversaw and managed quality control – looked for audio and visual errors that needed to be corrected. I oversaw and managed all toll-free numbers that were assigned to each spot and made sure no duplicates were made. I was responsible to make sure all spots with their unique toll-free numbers were assigned to its correct DMA (designated market area). In-other-words, if there were two stations within a certain mile radius of one another we couldn’t assign the same spot w/ the same toll-free number; we wouldn’t be able to identify which station genuinely pulled the lead and unable to pay the correct station/network. Again, this responsibility was for the entire country with well over 700 stations and networks to deal with. This could be used and tied into as an achievement as well:…. I spent a lot of time, almost on a daily basis, doing different aspects of training, mentoring and motivating other employees and giving over strategy on how to engage our contacts at the stations/networks to run our spots more (sometimes for less payouts – thereby saving money for the firm). How to analyze different markets and its potential for our campaigns to gain revenue for our firm, the client and the stations/networks. On a daily basis, I was responsible to oversee, review and streamline employees’ workload to make sure they were completing their tasks in a productive and efficient way.
