Daily Duties at Diamond Syndicate Inc.:
I supply, distribute, and sell loose diamonds to jewelry retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers on the islands of Oahu, Maui, and Big Island in Hawaii. I carry approximately $100,000-$250,000 of merchandise on me every day while seeing my clients. Fortunately, through street smarts and a keen sense of perception, I have not lost any diamonds, or have gotten robbed in the 6 years in the business. I have approximately 200 retailers as clients, as I fly to the outer islands (Big Island and Maui) every three months to supply and consign loose diamonds. Additionally, I am a diamond broker for specific, unique, and exclusive diamonds. I negotiate prices and search for diamonds needed by my clients and search for the specific diamond based on the specifications of the cut, color, clarity, carat weight, and budget. I make necessary calls to my different distributors and brokers located domestically on the mainland of United States and internationally in Israel, Belgium, India, and Hong Kong looking for the best diamonds at competitive prices for my clients. I outsource 60% of my diamond calls for the month for my clients because of the heightened competitive environment. I close 90% of my calls of the diamonds that are brought in. Every day I schedule my day based on diamond calls I have. Using the largest inventory in Hawaii and in the Pacific, I carefully select the best diamonds for my clients based on their detailed and specific diamond calls based on carat size, cut, clarity, certificate and prices. I take those diamonds to sell directly to the customer for cash payment on the spot, or for terms depending on their ability to pay the balance in full. If they cannot pay on the spot, I put the diamond on consignment and if it sells I collect the payment in full. I monitor my clients' consignments and open invoices, and accordingly I pick up consignments and re-consign needed diamonds, and pick up money for open balances. I am a buyer of loose diamonds and diamond jewelry from my clients and referrals of clients. I am called by my clients to take a look at diamonds, appraise the diamond on the spot, and to give a price to purchase the diamond. I negotiate fair prices that are beneficial for profit maximization for my company and fair for the customer. I have bought approximately $10,000 per month in street value of diamonds that will eventually sell for $15,000-$20,000. In addition, I manage and maintain client relationships by being personable, professional and fair. I make sure my prices are competitive by cross checking prices from several retail on and online competitors and make sure my clients are able to make the maximum profit, which allows me to have a consistent stream of repeat business. Furthermore, I make sure to keep my word and trust with clients, which I believe has proved viable in my longevity in the business. Additionally, I manage the online marketing program for the company. With the assistance of The Berry Company, our online marketing consulting company, I wrote the content of the website, assisted with the layout of the website, and decided which web campaigns to pursue to increase revenue. I consistently monitor the web campaigns through our dashboard, by listening to our calls to see where we can improve in our closing percentages, changing the way we interact with potential clients. In addition, I am in touch with the web consultants to make necessary website changes according to our monthly goals to bring in revenue whether by directing our campaigns to diamond selling, or diamond buying depending what is necessary for liquidating inventory or increasing inventory.
