Daily Duties at Us Tax Court:
I'm a Legal assistant who I served as an administrative support position for Legal department at US Tax Court, by performing a wide variety of diffucult and confidential task to support the duties of the office. The duites are type letters, reports, legal correspoondent and legal documents. I unilized Microsoft word to type the office directive on policies to follow and rules on how to process a case. Provided the IRS staff and attorneys with legal information and status of cases on the docket sheets, provided pleading for cases such as the answer and complaints to assure filing in a timely manner. review and processed cases , assigned docket numbers, before submitting to the Judge offices upon going to court issued summons and warrants recorded continuances, file probation report and notified the IRS and other federal agency about the completer cases. Prepared trial discovery proofread for accuracy, corrcect form and content of the document was proper english usage.fff • Served as an administrative support position in the Legal Department by performing a wide variety of moderately difficult and confidential office clerical and legal administrative support duties • Used initiative in carrying out routine assignments covered by established procedures, such as: type letters, reports, memoranda, legal opinions, legal correspondence, motions, briefs, and other legal and non-legal documents • Assisted Attorney Advisors, Judge’s Chamber/Confidential Secretary, Legal Services staff, Reporters and various others; responded to routine inquiries for information from the public and District staff and discussed decisions on titling legal documents • Provided IRS Attorneys with legal information and status of cases on the docket • Collected and analyzed numerous legal documents (i.e. motions, decisions and pleadings) related to litigation in the Tax Court; prepare cases for legal proceedings or agency hearings • Directly interacted with and/or responded to petitioner inquiries throughout the course of cases • Assisted Petitioners in analyzing, reviewing and developing investigative reports and initial actions, preparing pleadings, case tracking, and preparing Freedom of Information Act requests • Under close supervision prepared pleadings and legal notices connected with trial preparation and discovery; proofread for accuracy, correct form, content and proper English usage • Utilized the Blackstone document management system to input data and codes for a variety of legal documents. • Participated in the tracking and monitoring of department budget; expenses related to legal cases for eventual reimbursement • Transcribed deposition and arbitration summaries prepared by attorneys
