I'm a Legal Assistant who specialize in analyzing case information, and conducting fact finding and conducting legal and investigative research on the who the compoany is that's be fined and out of OSHA complaince. Our agency's goal is to hear the cases brought on by OSHA us dept. of labor and the responsiblity of our agency is ge t the matter resolved by bring the case to court. excess penalities and or if its corrected at the time of inspection by the complaince officers. Ensuring that all companies have proper equipment on before attempting go on the roof to work whether construction or any occupation or building. As a legal assistant i proritize to meet deadlings in terms of importantance related assignment of case and remaining professional. Developing a discipline approach to my deadling and filing of timley documents. Notirized letters for the employer to submit OSHA written letters to complaint and answers. Works well in a fast-paced environment with 3 days dealines on assigning the case files to Judge and comliance attorney and osha attorney. Typing up supeonas and witness list so the parties can be served to appear in court. Ability to manage multiple task such assigning cases to the Judge on a daily basis, compex issues arrising from cases not appearing on statistical report in Prolaw. Advising the Chief Judge and senior executives of any discrepensies in the report on statistic of the number of cases assigned to Judge, opinions, decision and settled cases that show on the report to maintain accuracy. Identify and refer outstanding motions that need approval to grant or deny to the immediate attention of the Chief Judge.Prepare subpeonas for disdtribution to the parties which are to report to court and directing the parties on trial exhibits to bring to trial. Ensuring the parties are in Compliance with the Review Commission rules of practive and procedures. Assist in preparing Affidavits for Judges and filing the document in the case files. Preparing order and notice for appearances to courts and set the date and time according to the Judge schedule, plan execute a courtroom for the hearing to take place. Assist the reporting agency with approriate setup in the courtrooms to type the hearing for record. Also filing and send trial exhibit via fed-ex to courtrooms and preparing chronologies of trial notebooks. Dissiminate critical case information within the official files while determining the prospective hearing sites and scheduling cases for complex issues. Working with other federal and district agency such the OSHA federal agency on tracking citation needed for the case files and US Dept. of Labor, and business to obtain pertinent information on the cases. Conduct searches on backround information of company cited with an OSHA violation and unpaided fines issues by OSHA compliance officers. • Manages Prolaw system for assigning cases; maintaining accuracy of information and generating reports as necessary; identify and refer outstanding motions requiring immediate attention to the Chief Judge • Research, analyze, evaluate and disseminate critical case information within official files while determining the prospective hearing sites in preparation for formal assignments; including practicality and scheduling cases • Consults with Chief Judge, Judges and other legal staff on scheduled travel; prepares corresponding forms and discusses assignments and necessary computer inputs to ensure prompt action and organization of legal activities • Draft discoveries and agreements for dissolution of interrogatories; analyze responses to requests • Assist Burke Reporting Company, Attorney’s and Judge’s by conducting fact investigations; assess, organize and analyze case information; including filing and preparing chronologies and trial notebooks • Compile, organize and mark trial exhibits; contribute to the preparation of graphs and demonstrative exhibits for use at trials • Ensuring parties are in Compliance with Review Commissions rules of practice and procedures • Responsible for the analysis of information and substantive development of information concerning, or related to, legal matters arising from automobile accidents, property damage and casualty claims, subpoena matters, and Freedom of Information Act requests. • Determines negligence and composes demand letters and other correspondence; processes administrative claims resulting from automobile accidents. • Assists in preparing litigation reports and affidavits in connection with lawsuits filed against the Bureau. • Prepares digests of selected decisions or opinions which incorporate legal references and analyses of precedents involved in areas of well-defined and settled points of law. • Utilizes computerized legal research data programs such as LEXIS and NEXIS and/or WESTLAW to assist in conducting research. • Conducts research for preparation of legal opinions on matter of interest to the agency. • Performs substantive legal analysis of requests for information under the provisions of various acts. • Provides paralegal instruction and guidance; explains legal document procedures; and prepares results of legal research.
