Daily Duties at University Of Miami:

• Synthesize organometallic heteronuclear transition metal cluster complexes including air sensitive compounds using schlenk techniques and glove box; separate mixture of compounds using thin layer and column chromatography • Characterize all new cluster complexes structurally using single crystal X-Ray diffraction, Infra Red, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Mass Spectroscopy and elemental analysis • Conduct literature searches, perform studies as related to research project and develop research protocol • Order and receive laboratory supplies to be used for a research project • Diagnose and solve problems related to the research project; record results of experiments and analyze data • Prepare research manuscripts for publication and research presentations • Develop and maintain research databases • Presented research results at national and local conferences, scientific symposiums and professional meetings • Prepare, maintain, and update research group web page • Serve as Laboratory Safety Officer (2010-Present): Oversee the safety activities of the laboratory, Enforce daily safety practices, Perform annual safety audit with other lab members, Oversee annual chemical inventory and obtain MSDS as needed, Review all laboratory safety policies, Document all safety related activities, Conduct chemical waste pick up, Maintain Satellite Accumulation Area for chemical waste storage • Supervised and mentored undergraduate and incoming graduate students in their research
