Daily Duties at Premer, Inc.:
Developed online help, print manuals, and release notes according to company standards. This included, consulting regularly with business and systems analysts about the business function and technical architecture of the entire system, attending daily scrums and design meetings, analyzing specifications for system functions and calculation methodology, de-identifying report samples in SnagIt, monitoring design changes and system updates, and testing each deployment. Created an embedded help system where the content was embedded in the database so that each report displayed help content specific to the parameters selected when the report was run. This included working with developers on the technical implementation, designing the content for context-sensitive distribution, formatting the content so that it could be pulled from a database and on-the-fly and still appear correctly to the end user, and testing the help for each possible report configuration. Migrated existing help systems from RoboHelp to Flare. Tested the software with the Quality Assurance team during major releases. Maintained Confluence wiki pages for internal documentation distribution. Submitted project plans and estimates to the project team for review.
What they like about Premer, Inc.:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
