Daily Duties at Straub Clinic And Hospital:

Prepared patients for scheduled surgery by performing assessment, starting IV, organizing paperwork for the chart. Also recovered same patients in Phase II assessing need for pain management, antiemetic treatment, any post op issues requiring attention. Followed ASPAN Standards of Procedure Protocol. Acted as patient advocate. Maintained patient safety. Prepared discharge instructions and coordinated transportation home. The unit consisted of 10 beds and four chairs across the hall for Phase III patients waiting for transport. There were staggered shifts. I worked the late shift: 1030-7pm (closing). There were a total of 7+ nurses, one nurse aide and a secretary for days and one for evening.
