Sungard Availability Services Work Values

Daily Duties at Sungard Availability Services:

• Configure and/or install customer configurations on network devices with various supported OS levels. Devices include: Cisco switches (6500, 4948, 3500, 2900, and Nexus 7000); Cisco routers (7513, 7206, 3600, 2800, and 2600); Cisco ASA (5540 and 5520) and Pix (535) firewall devices; and other IP appliances (F5 BigIP 6400, Nokia IP560 and IP530, and more) in a DR environment. • Install OS / iOS releases on various network devices, as requested by customer. • Setup, QC, and teardown network physical connections throughout the Sungard center. • Troubleshoot any problems with infrastructure hardware, OS’, and layer 1, 2 and 3connectivity. • Analyze network traffic with utilities, such Wireshark, PRTG, JDSU T-Berd, and Fluke Meter. • Communicate with transport group and/or telecom providers for circuit setups and issues. • Setup and maintain Sungard MetroCenters, which involve: over 300 HP workstations; a Ghost Server with several standard and customer-proprietary Windows 7 and XP images; and a handful of Cisco switches, including the 4507 (supports VoIP and PoE). • Deploy and support servers running Windows (2000, 2003, and 2008 Standard and Enterprise) or Linux, on various HP and Dell platforms with multiple Intel or AMD processors. • Connect disk and tape libraries/drives by patching and/or SAN zone setup using Brocade DCFM. • Perform Windows server startups and recoveries with NetBackup, TSM, and BMR. Often, recoveries involve restoring to dissimilar hardware - usually VMware virtual machines. • Setup, administer and troubleshoot ESXi / VMware environments during DR exercises. • Validate and support other SunGard products and recovery methodologies as they evolve. • Develop and modify test documentation, primarily with MS Excel, Word and Visio. • Develop and modify Network Operations Standard Operating Procedures, which involve instructions for OS changes, initial setup/basic configuration, password recovery and teardown. • Provide, as well as participate in platform cross training. • Document customer requirements, progress and changes, and conduct thorough turnover within my team as needed for the setup and support of the DR exercise. • Compile and communicate recommendations on improving customers’ DR procedures. • Perform as acting manager over multiple platform support groups during manager’ absences. • Act as Wintel platform shift lead during Managed Recovery Program recovery exercises.
