Held a leadership role in performing system upgrades and managing a 3X expansion of their PET LSO scintillation crystal production plant. Resolved technical issues and guided team members to keep a plant expansion project on track and to ensure that this LabVIEW controlled crystal growth factory remained operational 24/7. Performed troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on each of 62 50 kW IGBT induction heating crystal growth stations and controls, 2 MW UPS system, nitrogen, and water cooling systems. Repaired, tuned, and modified induction heating power generators. Developed new crystal pulling equipment with an 80% cost reduction. Transformed an existing chemically treated process water cooling system to a quasi-three loop system with 3 kV voltage differentials that controlled process water temperature to within 0.10° F of set point. This system had two cooling towers and a plate and frame heat exchanger. Developed a recovery solution to minimize downtime resulting from plugged passages in the sealed cooling water system caused by bacterial infestation. Implemented system and process improvements that doubled production efficiency and enabled the plant to grow larger crack-free crystals. Maintained a perfect record of zero cooling system failures and injuries.
