Daily Duties at Houston County Detention Center:
• Oversee multiple financial transactions and records in several locations for 500+ inmates. Coordinate the daily collection of funds and prepare all required bank deposit documentation. • Demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles and practices; reconcile and input accounting data into databases. Efficiently coordinate the efforts of department to ensure that accounts payable, cash applications, and invoices are reconciled in an accurate and timely manner. Proficiently encode invoices for data entry, post data, and document payment information. • Frequently exercise creativity and innovation. Constantly develop new insights into situations and question conventional approaches. Encourage new ideas and implement and streamline work process and procedures. Introduced new data systems and processes including new computer software and financial record-keeping systems. • Analyzed and investigated operations and recommended improvements. Determined potential problems and disseminated information to upper-level management. Proposed new procedures and methods to improve the validity, accuracy, and integrity of operations and processes. Saw to the effective use of manpower, money and materials. • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and varied levels of understanding. Frequently corresponded with families from vulnerable populations to discuss accounts.
