Daily Duties at Us Army, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center:
Served as the Operations Sergeant Major and Deputy Director within the Army Troop Command; as such, executed the intent, policy and procedures of the Commanding General and Brigade Commander. Provided Operational and HR support to over 2000 personnel assigned to one Brigade, one Battalion and three subordinate organizations. Managed the clerical administrative processes in an office setting during daily activities. Developed and implemented comprehensive plans and strategies for internal and external integration of day to day and long range projects, actions and activities for the US Army Troop Command. Conducted variables and measures using methodological techniques; and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing with people from various organizational levels. Interpreted and applied laws and regulations to establish internal and external policies and procedures. Analyzed and evaluated, on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of all the Troop Command s programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives as set by the Brigade level command and analyzed program performance data to identify issues and make recommendations for improvement. Lead the publishing guidance on the Standards Operation Procedures (S.O.P) for publication; developed and communicated a vision for the attainment of goals and objectives as a cohesive, focused organizational entity. Applied analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution to issues or problems that occurred during daily operational functions. Provided advice and guidance of a factual nature regarding issues and interpreted established and pertinent regulations and organizational policies, management principles, and administrative rules with the approval of the Troop Command Executive Officer. Communicated effectively with managers, employees and the public in person and over the telephone. Served as a catalyst for innovation and creativity in analyzing and solving complex problems while fostering an environment conducive to teamwork and empowerment of supervisors and employees. Reviewed and edited correspondence for procedural grammatical accuracy in conformance with policies and procedures. Oversaw the development of short- and long-range plans to meet organizational objectives; established and revised programs' goals, instituted major modifications in organizational or functional structure; and approved key appointments or promotions to ensure the most efficient organization. Attended meetings, briefings with Joint Task Force Operations, Northern Regional Medical Command, and Troop Command and other activities in support of organizational programs. Noted commitments made and informed staff of commitments and deadlines. Analyzed and interpreted laws, regulations and policies related to Soldier readiness and operational processes. Performed database management on three web based applications (i.e. input, gather, and analyze data, run queries and monthly reports) concerning training, travel and professional development. Directed and monitored compliance actions from employees, enforced actions required to improve programs and metrics through oral and written directives. Conducted detailed analysis of complex functions and work processes in the operational area of the Troop Command. Deputy Director of a full time staff managing transformation and transition efforts such as placement and movement of personnel between medical treatment facilities and health care systems; reviewed, validated and published operational and support orders. Provided advice, assistance, and policy guidance to senior military staff and civilian supervisors on operations and office functions. Oversaw and managed the budget for schools, permissive temporary duty assignments, and the final approval authority in the Defense Travel System (DTS).
