Daily Duties at 49th Test & Evaluation Squadron:

I was a direct hire by the unit commander as an electronic warfare subject matter expert. When I arrived at the unit, I had some experience conducting operational test and evaluations as part of my flying career. I was trained in USAF program management as well as test & evaluation through a combinations of on-line classes, in residence Defense Acquisition University courses and on-the job-training. I eventually was certified as a Level I Program Manager, a Level II Test & Evaluator, a Test Conductor and a Test Director. These positions require a high level of experience and subject matter expertise to conduct and execute proper testing of new/developing systems. The individual must know processes, acquisition phases and issues to successfully execute a test project/program. I managed multiple projects and successfully achieved milestones, ensuring projects complied with all cost and scope specifications. I monitored and coordinated efforts of analysts, testers, programmers and support staff. I defined testing requirements, wrote test cases, and coordinated testing, acquisition programming and support. I also collaborated and interacted with colleagues in private industry and other government agencies. In my time at the unit, I had completed 40 system test, wrote 5 major test plans and made 3 fielding recommendations for B-52 systems.

What they like about 49th Test & Evaluation Squadron:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
