I lead, managed and directed the installation's financial unit of 50 people, 15 wing staff agencies with 138 assigned personnel. The 15 agencies included the following areas: judge advocate general's office (lawyers), religious services, contracting unit, financial unit, safety, protocol, public affairs, treaty office, sexual assault coordinator office, anti-terrorism office, wing administrative staff, visual information office, and the historian office. I was to be the "eyes and ears" of the commander, address problems and grievances, and make sure staff agencies could execute the installation commander's plans, programs and policies. I was also the steward of installation commander's annual $770K staff budget and $300K commander's emphasis program fund. My job required that I visit each staff agency regularly and had hands on knowldge of operations. I was also charged with ensuring wing staff agencies were trained, equipped and funded to execute installation missions and support 11,414 people at Minot Air Force Base. My additional duties included; engage in key community stakeholders, including corporate and private foundations, associations and government leaders, interested in learning about the installation products, services and initiatives;provides senior level direction and management of all resource allocations, department budgets and overall operations strategies as they relate to providing installation services.
What they like about 5th Bomb Wing:
You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
