Daily Duties at 53 Electronic Warfare Group:

I was a direct hire for command by senior level leadership for this position. When I took over the organization it was on the verge of closing. I and six other people were assigned to the unit. Because of the pending closure, the organization struggled with direction, mission, organizational identity and motivation. My primary duties focused on daily management operations for the HQ USAF directed ground-based COMBAT SHIELD Electronic Warfare Assessment Program for fighter electronic countermeasure systems. I served as the Deputy Director of the COMBAT SHIELD program for the entire Air Force. The organization evaluated electronic warfare/defensive systems under realistic threat conditions to characterize fighter countermeasure systems for combat readiness. During the revitalization of the organization we began to gain additional missions the organization once supported and conducted. This included F-22A Force Development Evaluations by integrating electronic warfare suite/avionics test data from the Nellis range complex. The organization also monitored and coordinated efforts of analysts, testers, programmers and support staff. At my departure in 2010, the organization was stable and healthy with 21 people and were executing two major electronic warfare missions.

What they like about 53 Electronic Warfare Group:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
