Daily Duties at Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Harvard Medical School):

*Project 1: miRNA targeted post-transcriptional and post-translational regulation of MGMT in glioblastoma • To better understand mechanism of action (MOA) of MGMT and its post transcriptional regulations we did a Human genome wide miRNA screen in glioblastoma cell lines. miRNAs could serve as a more potent non-invasive biomarker. • Our functional analysis and preclinical data suggest that miRNAs could serve as a better predictive biomarker for TMZ response and that its role is mediated, in part, by post-transcriptional regulation of MGMT. • Research Article for miR-181d and its post transcriptional regulation of MGMT (published). Research article describing synergistic effect of miRNAs and MGMT interactions is in press *Project 2: Post-transcriptional regulation of O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase MGMT in glioblastomas • The DNA repair enzyme (MGMT) confers therapeutic resistance to DNA alkylating agents, including temzolomide. Our mRNA data and protein levels analysis in a array of Glioblastoma tumor specimens and cell lines suggest poor correlation with MGMT DNA methylation status. Interestingly, in-silico analysis predicted potential binding sites for several miRNA within the 3'UTR of MGMT emphasizing post transcriptional regulation of MGMT in glioblastoma. • Research article describing this research work is published

What they like about Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Harvard Medical School):

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
