Daily Duties at Unum:

• Reviewed all non-compensable claims decisions and communication prior to closure • Initiated referrals to various resources including linked waiver of premium, special investigations unit, appeals, settlement, life assistance program, employee assistance program, • Partnered with both the claimant and their physician to medically manage the claim from initial medical requests to reviewing and evaluating ongoing medical information • Ensured that all federal, state, contractual, and corporate guidelines are met throughout the life of the claims • Reviewed letters to customers and physicians to request medical information, provide status and communicate outcome of evaluation • Worked directly with employers, clinicians and vocational rehab counselors to facilitate a return to work either on a full time or modified duty basis. This includes identifying appropriate return to work referrals to outside resources for accommodation’s • Facilitated Roundtable discussions and provided specialist with on-going claims direction • Developed investigative telephone skills for better claim outcomes • Analyzed and conducted needs assessment to assist with development of product strategies. • Utilized expertise in multiple product lines (STD,LTD,GTL, Accident,WOP) • Mentored claims personnel on claims and communication quality • Provided monthly 1X1 feedback to team/staff
