Daily Duties at Northeastern University:
I worked in collaboration with the mechanical engineering department at Northeastern University on lung imaging utilizing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). We developed a lung phantom to understand, correct and validate refractive effects and artifacts. I developed an experimental setup to provide ground truth along with developing a ray tracing algorithm to make the corrections. My work also include: - Developed ray tracing algorithm for the prediction and correction of refractive effects and artifacts. - Developed a multi-angle tomography technique utilizing OCT to increase depth of imaging and signal-to-noise ratio in lung images. - Developed an image registration algorithm for multi-angle tomography. - Developed a method for compressing lung and imaging its re-inflation and deflation. - Performed optical analysis on a transparent indenter for lung indentation. - Developed hyperspectral experiment to measure and analyze the absorption and scattering of inflated lung phantoms. - Trained and supervised undergraduate students and interns.
What they like about Northeastern University:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
