Daily Duties at Chaparral Network Storage:
Introduced new technologies to the company such as Fibre Channel & iSCSI controllers. Helped the company to identify new market and opportunities. As a member of the design team, developed and led groups of hw and sw teams to bring new products to the market. • Architected and designed external RAID controllers and storage routers. Proven technical leadership to define advanced features for short and long term products. Worked closely with the CTO and marketing teams to define product features. Worked with OEM customers, multiple vendors, silicon providers, and software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to bring the products to market. Met deadlines or exceeded expectations throughout all design phases. • Designed the first 2Gb/Sec FC-SCSI Compact PCI router in the industry with full manageability for enterprise-class tape library applications. Received product of the year award. • Designed multiple hardware platforms, daughter boards, and adapters with complex PCB designs utilizing digital logic design, Verilog and HDL coding and simulation tools. Designed Chaparral’s first PentiumIII platform for use in advanced modular hardware enclosure. Responsible for netlist verification, EMC/EMI analysis, UL certification, Thermal characterization, MTBF calculations. Carried several designs successfully through various certifications. • Conceptualized and optimized fail-over scenarios. • Designed a Board Support Package for VxWorks operating system ported to a custom x86 design. Led other software engineers for Kernel interfaces and porting to the new platform. Designed Chaparral’s enclosure management design. Developed bootstrap, diagnostics, and POST software in C and assembly for multiple platforms. Utilizing development tools such as Mentor Graphics design packages, AutoCAD, Xilinx and Altera tool, Borland and GNU compilers, Visio. Worked with the ASIC team for ASIC characterization, layout, and optimal pin mapping. Led the troubleshooting and debug of the new hardware and ASICs.
