Daily Duties at Franchise Tax Board, State Of California:

Multi-state Corporation tax auditor. • Conduct complex correspondence and field audits of taxpayer's books and records using variety of resources. Apply general accounting, auditing principles, procedures to conduct audits and financial examinations. • Confer with taxpayers and/or legal representatives to request and discuss pertinent information. Gather substantiation and prepare audit reports, documenting the information developed during the audit. • Analyze facts and make appropriate audit determinations based on research and application of the tax laws, Board of Equalization and tax court decisions, legal memorandum and opinions, department policy and other applicable authority. Communicate audit findings in writing and verbally in a complete and concise manner • Interpret tax law, contracts, and documents to make appropriate recommendations. Responsible for developing comprehensive revenue estimates for proposed legislation and tax policy proposals impacting the income tax laws and regulation. • Independently plans and organizes multiple audits to complete in an efficient manner as outlined. Participate in special assignments and projects. Recommend law, regulation, policy or procedural changes as needed. • Regularly attend in-house/off-site tax and financial related seminars and training sessions. • Solid knowledge of CA Bank and Corporation Tax Laws, Federal Income Tax Laws and Regulation and knowledge of Federal Income Tax Laws and Regulations.
