Daily Duties at Matrix Absence Management:

Worked independently as I Managed LTD Claims for large client. Determined eligibility, disability, and made informed decisions. Communicated with employees and client on a daily basis. Wrote and sent out approval, denial, and other various correspondence. Performed annual, ongoing claims management for continued disability and verification of earnings (VOE). On approval of LTD, prepared approval worksheet that included all pertinent information to include, job classification, date of disability, first date of absence, monthly rate of pay, 66 2/3 of eligible rate of pay, offsets of California State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Social Security Disability and Retirement. Calculated any return to work dates as well. Approval letter and Excel worksheet would be sent to employee. Generated an Excel spreadsheet for my team that saved the company hundreds of dollars/ hours in the annual VOE process. Short Term Disability Claim Examiner in AMS role September 2010 – September 2011 Worked independently as I Managed STD claims concurrently with FMLA and VP for Apple, Inc. in a very fast paced/stressful environment. Determined eligibility based on time in service and disability. Wrote and sent out approval, extension, and denial letters. Coordinated with LTD for possible transitions. Communicated with individual claimants and client on a daily basis.

What they like about Matrix Absence Management:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
