Daily Duties at University Of Maryland,Baltimore County:
Project: The influence of micro-pattern on the formation of the Staphylococcus aureus biofilms. • Cultivated Staphylococcus aureus bacteria & biofilms on micropatterned surface • Used coulter counter to count the number of cells • Used confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) to study the structure of polysaccharide & the distribution of the live/dead cells in the biofilm • Set up flow chamber to study the influence of shear force combined with patterned surfaces on the formation of biofilms • Used high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC): RPC to separate small molecules (molecular weight 300) • Hands on experiences with western blot and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE): Analyzed the expression of beta 1 integrins by PC12 cells cultivated in different environment • Experiences with sterile handling and operation: Autoclave machine operation/cleaning room contamination control • Hands on experiences with streak plates, spread plates, colony counting • Hands on experiences with bacteria shake flask cultivation: Staphylococcus aureus& E.coli • Familiar with UV/Vis spectroscopy: Lowry’s and Bradford methods
