Daily Duties at Selective Insurance Company:

Leading both IT systems audit reviews and Operational audit reviews of company processes. Led systems review segment of an integrated review of Personal Lines and related systems – System is a Web-based application with a mainframe DB2 backend. Also participated on team audits as the Data Mining and statistical sampling expert. Whenever there was an Audit, a specific population of data was required. I determined the specific parameters for this population and extracted the data from large Databases to smaller files which could be used for Audit purposes. It was very important that the data that was extracted was an accurate representation of the area we wished to audit. After that data was extracted, I would then determine the statistical sampling parameters to use to determine a sub-sample of the data. This sample was then audited to determine the probable error rate within the population. We were then able to make a determination as to whether to expand the sample (and the audit) to encompass more analysis, or to stop with the testing we had already done and draw valid conclusions. Participated on team audits of PEO organization and Managed Care subsidiary, as well as review of Regional Operations in the underwriting, claims, loss control, and premium audit areas. Auditing has encompassed leading audits of Accounts Payable, Agency Profit Sharing, Reinsurance, and Actuarial functions. Performed audit of Accounts Receivable application system, based in DB2/CICS. Participated on team audits of the Extranet environment and a Web-based underwriting application. Responsible for integrating use of ACL into operational audits. Used SQL to extract data from Data Warehouse for use in Audits and Audit Sampling.
