Daily Duties at Maryland & Virginia Milk Producer's Cooperative Association:

I do accounting, finance, and risk management. I report directly to upper management and the board of directors. Create and analyze weekly K.P.I. reports, combine weekly reports into a monthly report for a check figure against monthly regulatory reports, and email to plant supervisors and upper management Manage and navigate the complexities of a multi-unionized workforce and complete most work assignments independently and with very little supervision Monitor product shrink using variance and statistical analysis within an Excel spreadsheet model Settle milk receipts with various suppliers; generate related reports (mid-month & month-end for all vendors) and email to AP department Complete monthly compliance reports for state and federal governments, by using an excel spreadsheet model that feeds into a spreadsheet that is idential to the compliance worksheets required to submit each month; update models when product mix changes or a regulatory requirement changes the required information Analyze monthly financial statements, compare to the prior period, prior year, and budgeted amounts and sit in or participate in monthly financial and key performance indicators reviews (teleconferences and web-based presentation combo). Complete quarterly account reconciliations for numerous accounts and report to outside auditors at year-end along with printed journal entries for the year Responsible for keeping all employees current with the required safety/environmental training Coordinate and present plant-wide PowerPoint safety, environmental, and good manufacturing practices training presentations Run monthly safety committee meetings; track workers’ compensation liability and expense; attend crisis management seminars; manage a holistic approach to risk
