Daily Duties at Austin Powder Company:

My responsibilities included developing current employees and bringing the site up to standards set by Austin Powder which exceed those set by federal, state and local agencies, for explosives storage and transportation after it was purchased from a family-owned company. I phased in Austin's products to replace the previous company's suppliers. I ordered products to meet customer requirements and stay within federal regulations for explosives storage on site. I brought the 12 vehicle fleet up to DOT standards as well as established sound maintenance records. I interviewed, hired, trained, disciplined and terminated employees. I planned the daily and weekly work schedule to meet customer needs and keep employees within DOT's 60 hour/7 day rule.

What they like about Austin Powder Company:

You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
