Ph.D. dissertation on “Regional Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Gefitinib in an Orthotopic Brain Tumor Model”: (Advisor: Dr. James M. Gallo) • Characterization of pharmacokinetics of gefitinib in plasma, normal brain and in brain tumor. • Determination of intratumoral distribution (pharmacokinetics) and pharmacodynamics of gefitinib. • Determination of regional tumor microenvironment/microvessel characteristics by immunohistochemistry within the brain tumor, in order to identify the determinants of intratumoral PK/PD variability • Modeling the intratumoral PK/PD variability of gefitinib that can be used as a tool to design strategies to attain homogeneous or therapeutically relevant PK/PD concentrations in the entire tumor. Research Project on “ Drug Development for Brain Tumor Therapeutics”, with pilot studies to characterize PK and PD of TL32711/ Birinapant (Tetralogic Pharmaceuticals) and BKM120 (Novartis) in orthotopic brain tumor models.
