Daily Duties at Mc Henry Rural Health Care Charity:
The idea to found a rural health care charity sprang as a result of the observations I made in the remote communities that I sent students for primary health care internships when I was Lecturer/Dean of Studies at Capitol Higher Institute of Health Sciences (SHIBS), Cameroon. These communities requested health education on diseases that had serious consequences on their livelihoods and their communities in general such as sexually transmissible diseases (STDs), HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB); issues of concern such as having a proper functioning health clinic with properly trained community nurses and staff, obtaining and maintaining a clean supply of water from their local springs, eating healthy and generally living healthy lives. Following my many visits to these remote villages to follow-up students on training and giving health talks, I saw the need to create a rural health care charity through which these remote communities could receive assistance to achieve their health goals. I consulted my colleagues and some agreed to join me. Initially we started work using personal resources and support from Capitol Higher Institute of Health Sciences (SHIBS), Cameroon and finally registered McHenry Rural Health Care under the United Kingdom Charity Commission in July 2001. I informed the local authorities in the areas that we served about the Charity’s goal. I actively participated to raise funds both locally and internationally to realize projects for those remote villages. I organized field training of the locals on health education, gave health talks and sensitized rural communities about communicable diseases especially HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
What they like about Mc Henry Rural Health Care Charity:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
