Daily Duties at Cornwall Manor:

Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing, I performed work of considerable difficulty. This position was a versatile role in which I was the designated Infection Control Nurse who developed an Infection Control Policy and Procedure Manual as per State and Federal Regulatory ad CDC guidelines. I supervised 120 nursing staff members and providing professional, educational and technical guidance to nursing assistants, LPN's and RN Supervisors. I have developed considerable knowledge of modern nursing techniques, routines and methods as applied to skilled care, such as, falls management and prevention, abuse and neglect prevention and the implementation of a pain management protocol. I have developed in-service programs for all disciplines and staff needs annually, which include State/Federal mandatory in-services. I prepared, conducted and participated in evaluation of orientation programs, skills training, and continuing education for all personnel. I coordinated and instructed State Approved Nurse Aid Certification course. I maintained in-service records for nursing staff. I assisted with ongoing development and revision of the Nursing Procedure Manual and formulated written procedures. I assumed responsibility for the Nursing Department in the absence of the Director of Nursing ensuring to identify the essential mix of necessary nursing clinical skills; management and leadership skills; and knowledge of fiscal management, ethical principles, state and federal regulatory requirements and standards of professional nursing practice. I participated in interdepartmental meetings to assess and coordinate need for continuing education.
