With the change in workman's comp laws Coast Plaza, which had been specializing in pain management and orthopedice surgery related to Woerkman's Comp, made the move to eliminate per diem staff. Up until that time I was extrmely busy being called in for pain mangement and on weekends spinal fusions. During the week we might do as many as 30 epidurals and dye studies in a single day utilizing two rooms to work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Going from epidural injections to spinal fusions to general and vascular cases was considered routine and working with different fusion systems meant constant learning and attention to detail. Since Coast Plaza also owned the hospital in Perris I would also occasionally be asked to work out there which was always an interesting assignment as well as a nice diversion.
