Daily Duties at Village Health Works:

o Participated in clinic activities including patient consultations and medical rounds with doctors and nurses o Designed and conducted a mortality survey in collaboration with an Emergency Medicine Doctor o Designed and implemented a pregnancy surveillance system to monitor pregnancies in 30 villages in the catchment area o Collected high quality, statistically robust data, that will be used to assess the impact of reproductive health programs at VHW o Conducted focus group assessments with women from villages in the catchment area to guide programmatic decisions o Collaborated with physicians, nurses and other MPH students efficiently and effectively to produce high-quality timely work o Trained a selected group of monitors on how to implement the surveillance system in their community o Initiated an educational campaign to be conducted in conjunction with the pregnancy surveillance program to be used to educate Burundians about the importance of the pregnancy surveillance system as well as the impact that it will have on their community
