Daily Duties at Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc.:
I managed and tracked capital spending (capex) by the various lines of businesses. I was the gate keeper of all capex, making sure an item qualified to be booked as a fixed asset considering US G.A.A.P rules. I met once a month with each senior corporate business leader, going through every line item on the balance sheet, including any overspending compared to budgets, as well as all purchasing commitments to be spent in future months. Other: I was also tasked with meeting all of the business leaders during the budget season. We were given two budget amounts Boeing pushed down to Jeppesen: one infrastructure number, and one number representing all capex for all of the rest less any infrastructure spending. I would spread out the Boeing numbers into many planned business projects resulting from my discussions with each business leader.
What they like about Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc.:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
