Daily Duties at Dish Network:

Managed the daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting functionality related to appropriately capitalized fixed assets according to company policies and G.A.A.P. (Generally accepted accounting principles). Through review of the fixed assets accounting cycle, made certain the integrity of reported fixed assets and the safe guarding of fixed assets were maintained at the highest levels possible throughout the year. This was achieved by a series of processes and procedures such as reviewing/approving fixed assets accounts reconciliations prepared by my direct reports prior to the final month end hard closes; reviewing the reasonableness tests of month end depreciation schedules prepared by my direct reports, preparing and presenting variance analysis reports at our monthly pre-close Manager's meetings chaired by our SVP and Controller. I was responsible to report upon all PP&E fixed assets balance sheet and related P&L accounts. Additionally, I managed the Purchase Order process of reviewing and correcting electronic purchases that had interface issues (ie the category picked did not feed into the account string interface in Oracle Purchasing). I received daily auto-generated emailed from Oracle, including the name of the person trying to set up the requisition. Such individuals were typically Buyers and administrative external customers purchasing anything from copiers to printer cartridges (I worked with them to fix the requisition coding within 24 hours, and included all purchasing issues - not just fixed assets purchases). Other - managed staff accountants, including preparation and presentation of their quarterly and annual reviews.
