Daily Duties at Bullet Line:
Hired to build a manufacturing platform for this $100M firm via robust processes capable of sustaining excellent performance while growing organically at 30% per year with future plans to expand via acquisitions. Responsible for rapidly deploying process changes to improve the very lackluster state of productivity, quality and on-time shipment performance in this high volume (>500K pcs/day) manufacturing environment. Launched initiative to level load the plant and drive WIP down by up to 75%. Maximized Capital leverage by converting old printing machines to new applications and improved Parts-Per-Hour (PPH) from 250 to 1500, a 500% productivity improvement! Despite these dramatic improvements over five short months, sales fell far short of expectations and forced a new going-forward strategy based on much more modest growth prospects and resulted in termination of my contract.
What they like about Bullet Line:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
