Daily Duties at Flint Hills Resources:

Within the refinery she/he is qualified to operate certain units. The area I am qualified to operate is in the 300 million dollar range for the equipment. She/he operates these units within the parameters and goals of that shift, following environmental parameters, regulatory agencies, state and federal laws. Reporting unit issues, deficiencies, abnormalities to the refinery shift manager, and documentation in the refinery log. Write up a work order of these deficiencies and document in great detail. All trouble shooting is in safe manner. The large area of responsibility of equipment, process, #1 directs the console operator and #2 operators to do their rounds and teach them procedures, responsibilities, mentor, process, msds, response, preventative maintenance, documentation, refinery log, VTA computer base training, how to do rounds correctly, trouble shooting skills, what things sound like normal verses not normal, smells, leadership, Console controls how they work, what they are used for, how to respond. Oversee the process, report to management. Review all moves between console operator & outside #2. Maintenance, shutdowns, startups, and emergencies preparation for every shift. Reviewing the procedures with that system and how to execute the procedure. All work in the units needs to be reviewed by the number one. Work Permits, MOC's (manage of change). Working on computer systems that consist of-Video Spec, DCS, Provox, Enterprise 1,2,3,Bently neveada,System1,PLC,HMI,Square Monox (UOP licensed), Kronos, AKNA, Wings, VTA, Impact, Maximo, Citrix, Fire King, Johnson Controls, Fischer, Silent Knight Wet & Dry, Intelligent, Viking. This is every shift. Oversee contractor and permit them for the work they need to complete Review all work permits, High risk paper work, evaluate your number two’s, contractors consist of several trades- 100 hundred men daily. Stretch and prepare and understanding Personal protective equipment. Checking all reservoir levels de-gas vents, spillback valves, temperatures of intakes & discharge exhaust, steam usage, and temp. Water tests are next for the steam system- reviews of any abnormalities. Checking and verifying all levels in vessels and tower for accuracy with the console operator. Check all environmental technology weather it’s an analyzer or Manuel-cartridge type. Checking burners, verifying the NOX & SOX's are within their environmental parameter. A first good round is completed by me. Go in the house and report to the RSM in great detail what I observed and discuss. Do computer based training, Look through the duties calendar for task, read the turnover book (manually & computer) and input information observed. Check the preventative maintenance book for PM's
