Daily Duties at Minnesota Army National Guard:

Lead and provide strategic direction for the Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET). Inspect maintenance documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Maintenance Agreements, Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services, Weapons, electronics, etc. Handle all Human Resources (HR) issues (counseling, hiring, firing, performance, training, etc.). As the Inspection Supervisor/Quality Control Manager for the Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site (MATES), ensured all 880 pieces of MATES equipment is properly maintained. Record and report on all metrics used to identify maintenance, supply, and service trends. Also, manage the State Controlled Humidity Preservation program designed to reduce maintenance related costs. Established and planned roles of 9 employees at state maintenance office, enabling Subject Matter Experts to run Minnesota Army National Guard maintenance operations. Designed system to record and report on facility maintenance for 15 maintenance buildings. Monitor and report on status of COMET Team, recommended solutions to issues, updated inspection checklists, streamlined maintenance procedures, etc. Direct and plan all administrative, operational and logistical activities for the COMET team. Recommend changes and train personnel to correct systematic or reoccurring maintenance problems. Develop yearly operating and travel budgets. Senior logistician in the Brigade. Reported to Brigade Commander regarding the status of maintenance and integrated logistics support, personnel strength, qualifications of personnel, etc. Provided solutions concerning any maintenance and logistics related problems. As senior staff person, provided leadership and strategic direction for 1873 soldiers as well as handling all HR issues (counseling, hiring, firing, training, etc.) for the battalion full time staff. Directed the recruiting, selection, training, operations and retention activities for 1873 soldiers. Managed and scheduled training operations activities for 9 organizations. Provided staff support and oversight for 917 soldiers. Also assisted in developing command guidance and designing training programs to ensure all soldiers were properly trained and units were operating within Army standards. Planned, organized and coordinated multi-echelon maintenance and logistics support for 5000 soldiers. Recommended changes in operational procedures to improve training and unit efficiency standards.
