Daily Duties at Puget Sound Blood Center:

Responsible for expenditure management on a $40M annual budget. This included approval of over $30M in expenditures annually. Directed and mentored staff through day-to-day processes including patient care, bone marrow donor search and stem cell collection processes, contracts development and oversight. This included intimate knowledge of all contracts with national organizations and providing staff training to 3 direct reports and 23 indirect reports, both professional and line staff. HR responsibilities included hiring, firing, counseling, performance reviews, mentoring and development. Devised plans, assembled team members and facilitated process improvement plans and strategies using Lean tools. Ensured customer needs were met and exceeded. Developed and wrote standard operating procedures, department and unit policies. Acted as interim quality improvement specialist over regulated components of clinical services. Created dashboard reports of statistics of 3 units and supplemented front-line supervisors in business expansion plans and implementations. Created and helped develop all power point presentations for the director.
