Daily Duties at University Of Colorado Hospital:

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients of all ages for emergency and urgent-care medical, surgical, pediatric, gynecologic and traumatic conditions. I sutured wounds, treated fractures, sprains and dislocated joints. I performed joint aspirations, incised and drained abscesses, performed pelvic exams, performed lumbar punctures, ordered laboratory tests and radiology evaluations. I prescribed medications as indicated. In this large, busy urban hospital,I treated all levels of emergent trauma, gunshot or stab wounds, motot vehicle collisions, severe burns, amputations and falls from heights to name a few. I also treated medical emergencies, intentional and unintentional drug overdoses, myocardial ischemic attacks, cerebral vascular accidents. I participated in preparing patients for surgery, hospital admission, transfer or discharge. I ordered lab and radiology tests and prescribed medications and other therapies as appropriate. I formulate plan of care in consultation with physicians. I also counseled friends and family members of patients regarding their status and disposition, making them more comfortable about the care their loved on received.

What they like about University Of Colorado Hospital:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
