Daily Duties at Symphony Federal Credit Union:

As the manager, I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the credit union. . My duties included member services, financial management, account management, report generation and policy and procedure management. Member services included share and loan products. Starting with three basic share products, I developed policies and procedures as well as the necessary forms to increase our share products to eight. From four loan products, I developed policies and procedures, and portfolio management tools to increase our products to thirteen. Members were educated on how to improve their financial position. By developing debt ratio worksheets and portfolio management sheets, I could quickly determine the steps to accomplish their goal while protecting the assets of the credit union. I was responsible managing all general ledger accounts. From posting day to day activity to account reconciliations to closings, I was responsible for ensuring that the financial reports reflected a true and concise picture of the credit union. I developed worksheets to save time and ensure that any discrepancies were easily identified and corrected. I educated the Board of Directors, who is responsible for setting policies and procedures for credit union operations, on how to read and understand financial statements. In addition, I handled quarterly and year-end member reports, federal and state tax reports, and investments. Quarterly member statements were printed and distributed in-house as were 1099’s. Federal credit unions are required to complete a 5300 report on a quarterly basis – to which changes are constantly made. This allowed the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee (responsible for overseeing credit union operations) and management a quick method to ensure we were on track. NCUA’s examine results are presented on a rate scale. In order to keep the Board of Directors informed of our goals and current position, I designed a meeting packet that provided a quick and convenient way for them to determine what areas were progressing as planned and where we had to concentrate more effort. Monthly and annual meetings are required to manage a credit union. I developed an annual report that presented our position in a simplified manner and included a report from the president/chairman, treasurer and supervisory committee. As the position of the credit union improved under my management, more volunteers offered their time to ensure our success. I educated all volunteers on credit union management. Through developing a tracking form, delinquent notifications, and taking the time to talk to the members about their situations, I was able to not only bring down the number of delinquent accounts and keep them down, but help the member improve their financial position
