Daily Duties at Viking Cabinetry Group:
Was promoted from VP of Manufacturing at Rutt to VP Operations Viking Range Corporation Cabinet Division for the purposes of creating and executing a lean manufacturing implementation plan to accomplish the parent Viking Range Corporation's goal of consolidating all cabinet companies under one company in a single location with multiple brands. It involved the total layout redesign and consolidation of assembly, specials, finishing, hardware and shipping operations and processes of all companies formerly utilizing 310,000 sq ft at two sites into the existing 140,000 sq ft New Holland facility while simultaneously providing uninterrupted production, delivery, and quality to support sales. Upon promotion, assumed the previous VP Mfg's job duties at Heritage as well as maintaining all of my previous VP Mfg duties at Rutt creating multi-plant responsibility and managing 269 associates. To duplicate the entire lean manufacturing implementation (training and empowerment of the workforce and layout conversion) that I had already accomplished at Rutt in Goodville, at Heritage in New Holland.
What they like about Viking Cabinetry Group:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
