Daily Duties at Idc / Iron Hawk:
As chief scientist at Ironhawk, I was responsible for development of secure compression-integrated TCP/IP based protocols for satellite communications. My work included development of new compression algorithms with application to small-message transmissiom, message aggregation, and large-message / disk-based differencing . Played critical technology development, design, and sales-support role in completion of $100,000,000 sale to STAMIS program. Java J2EE / Tomcat.
What they like about Idc / Iron Hawk:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.

Climbers who worked at Idc / Iron Hawk had these interests:
Books | |
---|---|
Game of Thrones |
Surprisingly good, as I didn't like the series! Normally I prefer historical fiction, though |
Master and Commander |
The Jack Aubrey series by Patrick O'Brian is wonderful! The detailed descriptions of naval life are matched by an examination of human nature that is insightful and entertaining. I had to read the entire series! |
Contrast Sensitivity of the Human Eye |
I found this survey of the collected work of engineers working in the field of human eye sensitivity to visual filed contrast an invaluable aid in the specification of quantization coefficients for my new compresison algorithm. |
Discrete Cosine Transform |
Rip and Yao's classic text is a never-ending source of detailed information supporting my use of the 3-D DCT for video compression. |
Boltho Series |
Another historical drama played out in the British Navy. Compelling, but pales besides O'Brian's work (apologies to the author, Alexander Kent) |
