Daily Duties at Puerto Rico Police Department:
Worked closely with Police Superintendent to confront years of strained relationship with the community and serve as a change agent to improve image, foster a relationship of mutual trust, cooperation and respect with the public. Provided the public with timely and accurate information regarding crime prevention initiatives, law enforcement efforts, and public safety measures. Engaged media outlets, generated news releases, coordinated and held press conferences, and served as spokesperson keeping the public aware of police activities, achievements, and services. Guided and supervised 10 direct reports, 13 regional press offices staffed with 100+ employees. § Crafted and launched integrated media campaign—Con Dignidad y Respeto promoting a partnership between police and the community, mutual trust, cooperation and respect.  Leticia Jover, JD Page 2 § Coached Chief of Police and other senior members on communicating with the public and on ways to limit negative media coverage. Caribbean Petroleum Company (CAPECO) Led team in disaster planning program in response to crisis situation caused by the 2009 explosion of Bayamón oil refinery impacting people, property and the environment, coordinating services with 20+ government agencies responding to event. § Developed strategic communications program effectively managing information flow and media coverage to lift fear from the public, inform on hazards, cleanup and emergency response efforts; and protect government credibility in time of crisis.
