Daily Duties at Citibank :
I was hired to manage a team of 20-25 reps that took incoming calls from customers on various types of Citi credit cards. Within six months - I was chosen to be one of the first manager's to convert team from service to sales. During my first year, I was chosen by the HR department to participate in the hiring process - reviewing applications and conducting interviews. I was additionally assigned to work with the National Quality team on monitoring and reviewing sales calls from all sites. By second year - I was considered a Sr. manager (of 40) and assigned to mentor new managers as they came in - let them shadow me; teach them policies and procedures. I was assigned to work with national procedure group on writing training and developing growth and advancement planning for phone representatives. I daily mentored my team members; while monitoring for Quality, Sales performance and a high level of customer care. Responsible for answering questions, taking escalated calls and assisting in the acclimation of new supervisors to the floor. During 3rd, 4th and 5th year - chosen by Director and Senion management team to step in and manage multiple teams when they were without a manager - this meant daily supervising up to 60 people. Participated in various teams or project groups to drive sales results, reduce redundancy in procedures and increase customer satisfaction. Worked for three different OM's - chosen out of 6 peers to step up and assume OM duties in their absence including national sales calls, morning Directors meetings and approving all tickets and transactions for OM team. Managed up to three teams (60 reps) simultaneously when short handed managers or they were out on leaves or vacations. During the 5 years - promoted from Service UM, to Sales UM, to AA UM and eventually manager of multi-talent team made up of reps that can handle multiple business lines.
What they like about Citibank :
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
