Daily Duties at Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra :

• Selecting music for performance • Advance preparation of scores and parts • Attending rehearsals and preparing and rehearsing the orchestra • Conducting concerts • Choose guest soloists from within the orchestra or from outside the group • Engaging additional musicians when necessary, within financial guidelines • Keeping expenses for music and musicians within budget • Recruiting, auditioning, and seating players in conjunction with the orchestra’s audition committee and procedures • Scheduling rehearsals and concerts • Representing the orchestra at publicity and fund-raising events • Serving as representative and spokesperson for the orchestra in the media and at public relations events • Interacting with and engaging the audience • Growing and diversifying the audience through imaginative and creative programming * Foster personal contacts and possible partnerships with area music educators and other musical ensembles
